Dean has become a hurricane, currently packing 100mph winds according the the National Hurricane Center. Dean is currently a category 2 and is heading in a westerly direction at about 23mph. |

Tropical Storm Dean formed yesterday. Today’s five o’clock report from the National Hurricane Center indicates Dean has continued to organize. Current motion is west-nothwest, but is expected to change to a more westerly direction.

Tropical Storm Chantal formed from a tropical depression yesterday and expected to lose strength by tomorrow. Chantal is heding in a north-northeast direction and poses no threat at this time. For additonal details, visit the National Hurricane Center.

Barry became a tropical depression earlier today and is continuing to head to the north / northeast. As of the five o’clock advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Barry was becoming an extratropical storm and will continue to dump rain in its path.

Tropical Storm Barry is located about 85 miles southwest of Tampa Bay as of 8am this morning. So far Barry has dropped from 1 to 5 inches of welcome rain across the area.

Well, we’re off with a bang. Florida is getting some much needed rain in the form of Tropical Storm Barry located in the Gulf of Mexico. It is not expected to become too strong as it is heading into cooler waters. Hopefully it will bring minimal damage with a maximum rain event.
