Monday, September 3rd, 2007 at 7:27 am by Hurricane Tipster
Hurricane Felix which became a category five hurricane last night with 165mph winds is moving quickly westward and caused new hurricane watches and warnings for portions of the Honduras.
At 5am eastern time, the center of Felix was located about 275 miles south-southeast of Kingston Jamaica. Felix is currently moving toward the west near 21mph and this is expected to continue for the next 24 hours. Continuing on this track will place Hurricane Felix near the coasts of Nicaragua and Honduras early on Tuesday morning.
The good news about Felix is that it has a very small wind field. Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center and tropical storm force winds extend out up to 115 miles.
