Tropical Depression One Forms in Caribbean

A poorly organized tropical depression is producing heavy rains in western Cuba according to the National Hurricane Center forecast team.
Tropical depression one has slowed this afternoon and is estimated to be moving toward the north-northwest new 6mph. A slightly faster motion toward the north-northwest is expected to resume during the next several hours. This motion should bring the center of the tropical depression into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico later tonight.
Currently, maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible during the next 24 hours and the depression could become a the first tropical storm of the 2006 hurricane season tonight or tomorrow.
