Meet Tropical Storm Franklin

The sixth named storm of the 2005 hurricane season has arrived — and it’s only July. Tropical Storm Franklin was born yesterday.

The center of Franklin is moving north westward across Great Abaco Island in the Bahamas. Maximum sustained winds are near 45pmh with stronger gusts. Some strengthening is forecast in the next 24 hours.

Franklin remains a small storm with tropical storm force winds extending outward up to 40 miles.
