Hurricane Adrian hits El Salvador

Officials order 14,000 to evacuate. Hurricane Adrian slammed into El Salvador’s coast, President Tony Saca said, cutting off power and forcing officials to close schools and evacuate some 14,000 people.
The hurricane hit land on a stretch of coast west of the capital, San Salvador, but the full force of the storm — the first recorded Pacific hurricane to strike the country — has yet to be felt.
